I agree re the difficulty of checking levels accurately, I was never really satisfied that I had it bang on.

I obviously don't know the history of your car and it sounds like you are having it professionally maintained, but if you're not sure how long it has been since your transmission fluid was replaced I would think that this would be a good time to do it... basically killing two birds with one stone. From what I have seen on this forum and my own experiences, having good, clean fluid is one of the most important things you can do to improve the longevity of your transmission and prevent failures.
